Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) North Region

In southwest Florida, 80% of the water is supplied by aquifers, which are underground layers of rock and sand that hold water. The local area is within the Southwest Florida Water Management District's North Region, which includes Citrus, Levy, Marion, Hernando, Sumter and Lake counties. 

The North Region's aquifer level (in percentiles) for 2022, as of November 16, 2022, was 70%. The previous week was 58%, the same date last year was 90%, and the normal range is 25% to 75%.

The North Region's actual rainfall (in inches) for November 2022, as of ber November16, 2022, was 2.94 inches. The November historic average is 1.98 inches, and the November normal range is  0.74 inches to 2.82 inches. The 2022 year-to-date actual rainfall is 49.75 inches, the January through November historic average is 51.00 inches, and the January through November normal range is 46.63 to 55.11 inches. 

The North Region's average historic rainfall (in inches) since 2011 is 53.45 inches, within the normal range of 48.62 - 58.07 inches. Southwest Florida Water Management District
In addition to the North Region (Citrus, Levy, Marion, Hernando, Sumter and Lake counties), the two other divisions of the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) includes the Central Region (Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties), and the South Region (Charlotte, DeSoto, Hardee, Highlands, Manatee and Sarasota counties).

The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) is one of five water management districts within Florida. The other water districts include the Northwest Florida Water Management District, the Suwannee River Water Management District, the St. Johns River Water Management District, and the South Florida Water Management District. 

Northwest Florida Water Management District:
Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Leon, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla, Walton, Washington, and western Jefferson counties.

Suwannee River Water Management District:
All of Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor, and Union counties, and portions of Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Jefferson, Levy, and Putnam counties.

St. Johns River Water Management District:
All of Brevard, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Nassau, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns and Volusia counties, and portions of Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Lake, Marion, Okeechobee, Orange and Osceola counties.

South Florida Water Management District:
All of Broward, Collier, Dade, Glades, Hendry, Lee, Martin, Monroe, Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties, and portions of Charlotte, Highlands, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola and Polk counties.
