Gulf of Mexico Red Snapper recreational season extended by 17 days
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC)
An additional 17 days will be added to the 2024 Gulf Red Snapper recreational season so that Florida anglers can make up for lost opportunities due to hurricanes Helene and Milton. The announcement of the extended season coincided with the reopening of the 2024 Recreational For-Hire Season by NOAA.
A record 103-day Gulf Red Snapper recreational season was announced earlier this year, with mention that the season would be reevaluated, if impacted by the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season, to accommodate additional days, if necessary.
The full updated schedule for the remaining 2024 Gulf of Mexico Red Snapper recreational harvest season is as follows:
November 22-24, 2024 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
November 28-30, 2024 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Thanksgiving Holiday)
December 6-8, 2024 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
December 13-15, 2024 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
December 20-22, 2024 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
December 24-31, 2024 (Tuesday, Christmas Eve, through Tuesday, New Years Eve)
Discounted Hunting and Fishing Licenses
Through January 3, 2025, Florida is offering is discount of 50% off on short-term licenses for Floridians, for annual and five-year multisport licenses for fishing and hunting.
Florida is also offering the 50% discount on lifetime sportsman licenses for children up to 17 years of ageL Age 4 or younger - $200 (normally $400)
Ages 5 to 12 - $350 (normally $700)
Ages 13 to 17 - $500 (normally $1,000)
Additionally, FWC is offering annual saltwater and freshwater combo licenses for just $5.
Residents can purchase the discounted licenses online at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com, in person at their local tax collector’s office, or through the Fish|Hunt FL App, available too download on Apple and Android devices at license.gooutdoorsflorida.com/Licensing/CustomerLookup.aspx.
The discounted one-year and five-year Gold Sportsman licenses can be purchased at any participating license agent.
