Boat Ramps Along the Suwannee River Reopened

Sheriff McCallum has consulted with the Levy County Parks and Recreation Department and determined that water levels along the Suwannee River have sufficiently receded to allow boat ramps to reopen. Boaters navigating along this waterway are cautioned to maintain safe speeds as floating debris will continue to cause navigation hazards.

Have a safe weekend and happy boating!

The following ramps are reopened:

  • Clay Landing
  • Camp Azalea
  • Fowlers Bluff

Levy County Sheriff's Office (LCSO)

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, Levy County Sheriff Sheriff McCallum, in cooperation with the Levy County Board of County Commissioners and the Levy County Department of Parks and Recreation, announced that all boat ramps along the Suwannee River in Chiefland, Florida will close at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, due to rising water levels making this waterway hazardous for navigation. The boast ramps closure will also help protect homes and docks located along the river banks. Boaters navigating in or around homes on the Suwannee River are asked to observe a “no wake zone” to prevent damage to homes and docks.

The Levy County Department of Parks and Recreation will monitor the ramps, and alert the commission when water levels have receded to safe levels. Barricades have been placed at the ramps, and the public is asked to please NOT remove them.
