Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC)

Several reef fish species will open to recreational harvest, May 1, 2024, in Florida state waters of the Atlantic Ocean, as outlined below in bold: 

• The following will open to recreational harvest in all Florida state waters of the Atlantic:
    *greater amberjack 
    *red porgy  


• The following will open to recreational harvest in all Florida state waters of the Atlantic and all state waters of Monroe County: 
    *blueline tilefish     
    *gag grouper
    *black grouper
    *red grouper
    *yellowmouth grouper
    *yellowfin grouper
    *scamp grouper
    *red hind grouper
    *rock hind grouper 
    *coney grouper 
    *graysby grouper


• The following will open for recreational harvest in all state waters on the east coast of Florida as well as all state waters south of Cape Sable, including the Florida Keys:
    *hogfish
