Mark your calendars for an exciting opportunity to cast your lines during the upcoming Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) license-free freshwater fishing weekend! See details at MyFWC.com/license/recreational/do-i-need-one/free-fishing.
The upcooming license-free fishing weekend is April 6 and 7. Florida residents and visitors are invited to explore the many recreational freshwater fishing opportunities Florida has to offer, from serene lakes to winding rivers.

“Florida offers an experience seen nowhere else in the world through its abundant fishing opportunities,” said Tom Graef, FWC’s Director of the Division of Freshwater Fisheries Management. “License-free fishing weekends help residents and visitors alike connect with friends and family while enjoying the nature Florida has to offer.”

Anglers of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to take advantage of this special weekend, which allows them to reel in their favorite freshwater species without the need for a fishing license. There are two family fishing events during this weekend:
• Tenoroc Fish Management Area (MyFWC.com/news/all-news/tenoroc-224), 3829 Tenoroc Mine Road, Lakeland, Florida 33805, April 6, 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Pre-registration required, which will close April 5. Call the FWC at 863-648-3200 to register for the event. A free lunch will be provided by Publix Supermarkets and the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida. Bait and a limited number of loaner rods and reels will also be provided free of charge to youth aged 15 and younger. A parent or guardian must accompany youth participants.
• Florida Bass Conservation Center (MyFWC.com/fishing/freshwater/stocking/fbcc), 3583 County Road 788, Webster, Florida 33597, April 6, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Attendees should bring fishing gear and bait. A free lunch of hotdogs and hamburgers will be provided by Vital Fleet Services.
