Permit/Pompano spawning season closes April 1 in south Florida, reopens August 1

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC)

The spawning season will close inside the Special Permit Zone, beginning April 1, 2024; Permit will reopen inside the Special Permit Zone on August 1, 2024. 

This closure includes all state and federal waters south of Cape Sable on the Gulf coast, and south of Cape Florida on the Atlantic coast, including all of the Florida Keys and Biscayne Bay south of Rickenbacker Causeway.
