Go fishing for free! Freshwater license-free weekend is April 2-3

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) invites Florida residents and visitors to go freshwater fishing during the two license-free days, the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, April 2 and 3, 2022.
License-free freshwater fishing days provide an excellent opportunity for those new to fishing, or someone who only fishes occasionally, to try out or enjoy the sport without first purchasing a license. On these days, the fishing license requirement is waived for all recreational anglers, residents and non residents alike. All other fishing rules, including harvest seasons and bag and size limits, still apply.
If you're looking for a fishing spot to bring your family during the license-free weekend, the FWC is hosting two free freshwater fishing events for youths and their families (see below) which the public is invited to attend. Youth anglers will be allowed to access fish in ponds on site. Bring your own fishing gear, bait and chairs.
