Inverness, Florida - A traffic crash on Sunday afternoon, February 11, 2024, resulted in the death of a 67 year-old man from Lecanto, Florida, who was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The traffic crash occurred in Inverness at 3:42 pm. 

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcycle was traveling east, within the parking lot of the RaceTrac gas station located at 2120 East Gulf to Lake Highway. A second vehicle, a Nissan Frontier pickup truck, driven by a 70 year-old man from Dunnellon, Florida, was traveling west on East Gulf to Lake Highway, entering the parking lot of the gas station. As the motorcycle attempted to exit the gas station, the driver lost control of the motorcycle and overturned as the pickup truck was entering the gas station parking lot. As a result, the motorcycle collided with the pickup truck, which then collided with the driver of the motorcycle, who had fallen from the motorcycle.  

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to an area hospital, where he later expired from injuries he suffered during the crash. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
